City and Borough of Juneau Housing Portal
The Juneau Economic Development Council has partnered with the City and Borough of Juneau to serve as the primary point of contact for public and community groups working to make Juneau's housing costs more affordable. The creation of more affordable housing fits into the JEDC's overall mission of fostering a healthy and sustainable economic climate in Juneau and Southeast Alaska.
"Affordable Housing" refers to a household's ability to find housing within their financial means. Households that spend more than 30% of their income on housing and certain utilities are considered to experience a cost burden. In Juneau, a wide range of households at varying income levels struggle with affordable housing.
"Workforce Housing" refers to households that earn too much to qualify for affordable housing subsidies, but not enough to afford to buy a home or an apartment or rent an apartment.
The City and Borough of Juneau Housing Portal will provide housing information and resources for all aspects of the local housing community. If you have questions, please call the JEDC affordable housing coordinator at 907-523-2338.
Project Homeless Connect
Project Homeless Connect was a one-day, one-stop event on Monday, January 25th at Centennial Hall. Sponsored by the Juneau Homeless Coalition and coinciding with the Point-in-Time Count, a one-day count of people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness, the purpose of this event was to connect services to people who are homeless. JEDC's Scott Ciambor played a leading role in coordinating Project Homeless Connect and provided affordable housing information at the event.
