The Pacific Halibut is one of SE Alaska’s favorite things to fill the freezer with for the winter. Did you know that a Pacific Halibut can grow as large as 500 pounds? Might need a few freezers!  A Pacific Halibut is born swimming like a salmon, with eyes on either side of its head. As it matures to 6 months old, one eye migrates to the right side and it begins to swim sideways, with both eyes on top of its head. How’s that for underwater acrobatics!? Join us at the Maritime Festival on May 4, 2024 to learn more about what goes on under the sea!
