The Juneau Maritime Festival is thrilled to acknowledge the ongoing support and dedication of CBJ Docks & Harbors. Their tireless efforts, dedication, and consistent pursuit of excellence ensure that Juneau’s vibrant waterfront and maritime culture not only thrives but continuously improves, welcoming both residents and visitors alike. For the 2025 event, we owe a special thanks to the Docks & Harbors Port Operations Manager Scott Hinton and his crew for the logistical support of the Maritime Festival. Administrative Officer Melody Musick reinstituted a kid’s activity to build wooden boats, and administrative Supervisor Katie McKeown (and Margorie) and Administrative Assistant Ben Kriegmont (& Gretchen) volunteered at the Beer Garden. Docks & Harbors is fortunate to have many community-focused employees willing to make events, like Maritime Festival, successful. Port Director Carl Uchytil, will again be coordinating the Tug-of-War event at the Maritime Festival on May 9th at 3:00 pm, and encourages teams of 6-8 to sign up by emailing klafollette@jedc.org. Come down and join the celebration at the Juneau Maritime Festival, proudly supported by the great Docks and Harbors team.
From their March newsletter: “We are actively recruiting for a variety of year-round and seasonal positions including harbor officers, harbor technicians and administrative assistants. All the Docks & Harbors job opportunities are hosted on the CBJ website. Docks & Harbors has a lot to accomplish between now and the start of the summer season including hiring, cleaning and prepping for all of our facilities as well as issuing permits to those commercial operators. We will schedule our semiannual meeting with the transportation, excursion operators and vendor booth permittees in mid April. Last October, Docks & Harbors held our first “garage sale” to sell items which have accumulated over the year. It is our intentions to continue this tradition with a “spring garage sale” in May – stay tuned!”
