Loneliness

“The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved.” – Mother Teresa.

Loneliness is known as the “hidden killer” and one of the largest health concerns in which we all face.  Researchers have discovered that loneliness puts individuals at greater risk for dementia and cognitive decline and that it is also associated with an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, weakened immune system, anxiety, depression or even death. Surgeon General of the United States Dr. Vivek H. Murthy calls “loneliness, isolation, and lack of connection in our country” in the United States both an “epidemic” and a “public health crisis.” May 30, 2024
