Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) Program is a low-income subsidy that pays for qualified Medicare premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance. This program does NOT pay for medical care services. Medicare charges a monthly premium that is withdrawn from an individual’s Social Security income. This program pays the premium thus increasing your cash income monthly. Application for the program is determined when applying for Medicaid in Alaska. Often individuals who are eligible for the SLMB program have income that are slighter higher than eligible for Medicaid services.
